I had this same type of training when I worked offshore and was flown out by helicopter. It was one of the toughest experiences I’ve ever had. You just can’t believe how fast you lose your situational awareness. Up is down and down is up. Almost all of us swam in the wrong direction. In closing, the instructor said, now imagine doing this after a crash while in some pain. He was so right.

I took USAF water survival. When the instructor asked, “Once the aircraft hits the water what is the first thing you do?” I responded, “Die.” I got pulled off to the side and got a talking to.

yo tuve la oportunidad de hacer ese curso de entrenamiento fisiológico, cuando era teniente de la aviación en Venezuela, fue una experiencia brutal me tocó ser el capitán de nave por qué resistía más tiempo bajo el agua sin oxigeno. Con el entrenamiento adecuado puedes durar hasta 3 min bajo el agua o más.

Did something like this for the Air Force. They played Pirates of the Caribbean music when they dumped the fuselage. Storm lights, giant fan, and all. Literally my all time favorite training.
