The problem with mafia three open world is that the side missions got extremely repetitive but the open world itself, and the environment was very lively, and captivating and it would’ve been kind of on par with the upper world from GTA five and Saint Row at the time. No to mention that when the game launched too it was a buggy mess. Personally, the publishers shouldn’t have released it that quickly and should’ve just hold off on it until they made a polish game.

If mafia 3 wasn’t a mafia game it would never receive the hate it does. Nothing overly special about it, and it definitely isn’t as good as the previous 2 games but it is overhated.

This why ign is so buns. Mafia 3 didn’t work bc it was open world, it was the story & gameplay. The story wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t the mafia we know & love. It’s crazy that franchises like mafia go & change up the story to something new & different & a whole new set of characters we didn’t need instead of just keeping the story with Vito & making money off the story line & his character development. It’s a big reason why mafia 2 is so good bc of the gameplay mechanics & story it has. Although mafia 3 gameplay mechanics were THAT not bad, it’s just a lot of bugs in the gameplay & the flow of combat was janky & a lack of activities & good content & customization items.

No Mafia series was perfect as a open world but mafia 3 they just didn’t add any shops, activities, restaurants, and repeatable criminal Side quests like heist or assassination missions
