Idk about this one Touré… he was the highest watched late night show in his slot. And you have to admit the timing is questionable. I guess two things can be true at the same time though.

I was a big fan of Colbert when he was on Comedy Central. when he went to Late Show, I followed. He was still on brand and very entertaining. I especially liked "late night confessions" and a lot of his other segments. I would often watch parts of the show on YouTube. After Trump became the nominee and then was elected in 2016, Colbert seemed to be obsessed with jokes about Trump. It was low hanging fruit considering all the crazy stuff Trump said and tweeted. After a while it got old. I stopped watching ALL segments from late night talk shows. They all became predictable and boring in their obsessions with Trump. Colbert's cancellation may very well be political, but it was also a long time coming. All the hosts alienated viewers who just wanted to watch comedy and other entertainment fluff.

It can be both things you know. How do you explain the timing? Come on.

I love you Toure but it's financial and political. Two things can be real at one time.

So, the number one late night show is a financial burden? 😒

i respectfully disagree Toure. there are other facts at play and yes i see your concerns but ultimately how do we know this isnt like when abc caved to trump on George Stephanopolous calling him a rapist? the studios & networks rather not deal with all the legal damage and drama so they capitulate.

I love his show and it has no value to me. I watch it recorded the next day, I skip the commercials and every actor that is interviewed, even some of the comedy bits. Often it takes me 10 minutes to watch what I want to see in an episode.

I would agree IF he wasn’t the most popular of all of the late night folks and only three days after he called out CBS. Trump wants him out of the way in order to approve the merger

it is not only political it is calculated they pulled all the funding from PBS public broadcasting they gave us sesame Street and different educational programs that did not side with the view of right that we both know that besides the news the way people get there information for centuries is the town gesture or the town crier and that's all these late talks on shows were giving out the news with humor that in all the news there's some truth and all the humor there's some darkness you better be we're

I do mostly agree with you. CBS has been hoarding content rather than packaging it with other primary sources like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon. They keep hoping they can rake in on subscribers. Colbert is the only show I actually considered subscribing but in the end couldn’t justify it for one show. I hope Netflix contracts with Colbert, that would be a winning combo. With that said, Colbert I believe IS the most successful late night show, and for CBS to give up $$ ….. my spidy senses tingle with there’s more than what meets the eye on this.

They would have begun cutting costs and making adjustments if it was exclusively financial, not cancel immediately after a little criticism.

Politics and finances are intertwined. It’s political because it’s financial. It’s the start of the end of transparent media

Definitely not financial 😂 CBS (Skydance) has been literally bribing Trump to get approval for the Paramount merger.

It's both political & financial. Had Colbert been 3rd in ratings among late night, I'd totally believe it was purely financial. However he was #1, so it's definitely a little of both & CBS looks SUSPECT.

Yeah, the timing of all of this is too fishy. There's no way on God's green earth that there was no political pressure. They paid the fine, which if they would have fought would have won easily. This merger is incredibly important to them and numbnuts in the white house can squash it with a wave of his hand. Look what they did to CBS news. Colbert is just collateral damage here, and it's truly shameful what this man is doing to our country.

Ayo Toure - bro, an abrupt termination or discontinuation of a revenue stream or Business Unit is never a result of poor performance. Financial Management - 101. Timely preparation and strategic execution of discontinuation, this is not Sir😂
