I was born 1st March 1965, too young to remember the switch. My Nan kept some sixpence pieces to put into the plum pudding at Xmas and my pop used to collect the pennies from the penny metres for gas, and would let me help to count them haha.. they must have had the penny metres for many years later. My pop died in 1972
