@anautisticguide: For years all I could do was lay in bed or move my body to the couch. As I began to recover a little I began to cycle between Screens, Special Interests, Sensory Input and Coregulation to try and get through each day because I was so unwell and dysregulated. As my capacity has increased slightly I’ve found so much purpose in being able to see a few clients again, but when there is too much unfilled time at home, when the kids are on screens and want me next to them not doing anything else for days at a time, or when I run out of spoons and don’t know what to do with myself, I feel untethered and overwhelmed. I realized this was due to unpredictability and low executive functioning so I created some goals/ routines, and some predictable things I do when I’m tapped. My goals are self care things like 12 minutes of exercise, walking my dogs, taking my vitamins, eating 3 times a day. I know, those sound like typical basic things. They are. When you burnout you literally have to build back up from the basics. My “after crashing” activity is rewatching Gilmore Girls (and boy do I have a lot of thoughts on it from my now adult perspective). How do you navigate months/ weeks/ years spent at home?
