This is 100% where I want my taxes going, making sure kids are housed and fed should be number 1 priority.

People hating because she gets “heaps” in government payments. 2/3 of her income is paid parental leave - because she has been working for 3 years. Her payments are the same as yours if you were to have kids and go on leave. This will reduce dramatically when her maternity leave is over

Hey Eve, you are doing great. It’s amazing to see you being responsible with your Centrelink payments. Don’t worry about the individual’s here complaining about their full time payments. I pay plenty of tax and I am so proud that it can go towards mums (no matter their age) to be home and learn how to be a mum.

People getting mad about how much she’s getting are missing the point. She’s incredibly lucky to have a supportive family, which is why she’s able to budget, save, and plan for a better future for herself and her son. She's lucky that her Centrelink payments help her get ahead whereas most people are only just (or not) surviving on them. That’s supposed to be the whole point of Centrelink. Helping people get through tough times so they can eventually stand on their own. One day, she’ll be working again, paying taxes, and contributing back into the system. I'm happy that SOME of my taxes paid go towards helping fund Centrelink!

Also sorry to make another comment but how are you receiving parenting payment at the same time as parental leave…I would check that you aren’t being overpaid because I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to receives parenting payment and parental leave at the same time xx
