@irelandamvmtv: Should the voting age in Ireland be lowered to 16? Political Editor Pat Leahy explains why lowering the voting age in Ireland isn't likely to happen before the next election and why it would need more than just political will #IrelandAM
If your going to lower the voting age your going to have to push for more political education in schools in order to give young people the best chance in making an informed decision on who to vote for.

A brain isn't finished developing until mid to late 20s depending on the brain. These people want to lower the voting age to people who literally can't make decisions without weighing up the future consequences. Next they'll be campaigning to lower the consent age because if you're old enough to vote what else aren't you old enough for. Keep it at 18 and if they should be campaigning for anything it should be for them to raise it to 21.

It’s madness!! Why do we have to follow what others do?! Politicians just want more manipulatable minds to keep their careers going. 16 should be about fun and exploration not voting. Well end up with yup bros just voting for the craic

Concentrate more on getting 18-24 year olds out to vote. Their turn out rates are atrocious.

What is on the agenda? Removing the triple lock without a referendum, relaxing regulations to have us all rent at 3k a month for a box flat with one window, no cost of living measures in the budget. Anything for this cobbled together neolib government to hold onto power another term
