I'd check these prices again, it's not silver it's copper. and what was the cost when the game came out? but that's just the macro economics in me

But in the US it would be sold at standard big pharma markups so you could at least triple those numbers 🤓

In most countries they would be free. In the United States they would cost whatever amount it takes to bankrupt the imbiber.

shirt 4sp $20,combat boots 1gp $150, pants 3sp $25, ale 1 gal 2sp $10-15, lamp oil 6sp $30, rope h1 $5 (thank you home depot) s10 $50, tent 15sp $45. these are usd but using 2ed prices. so by this a gp is around 150 usd. so a 50gp potion 7,500 usd. so most prices are down and 1 gp is worth less because you are not $88... we could make a matrix for this...m😎

and this is how adventures can and do collapse local economies when they pass through town dropping gold like it's water.

OMG, you've inspired me to offer my players ingame insurance. Co-pays on healing potions and cleric services (only for in network religions). Higher premiums for adventurers and if they were cursed or otherwise injured before signing up that's a pre-existing condition. The real BBEG, is the system.

that's a heck of a lot cheaper than an uninsured night at a hospital...

in America a general use healing potion would likely cost around 30-70 thousand dollars 💀❤💀

Given that we would be commoners with anywhere between 4-6 hp a healing potion will take you from broken clean in half and shattered limbs to perfect health in seconds

I think it would be more accurate to use the silver coins weight vs the price of silver

also a days labor of a skilled craftsman is a gp a day, which seems very low for a conversion rate for the rest, but that potion would literally heal all the wounds of a commoner instantly. also I bought a hand forged combat ready rapier for about 14gp vs the regular 45, the monetary system is kind of all over the place

we did this math back in the 90's. bread, tent, Backpack, canteen and bottle of wine. we had a gold piece totaling just over $20 usd but $26 Canadian. let's keep this up and get the new normal

...So basically a health potion is like a trip to the ER without insurance, but it will actually fix the problem.😂
