I only found out what RSD about 18 months ago but it was the realisation for me to be tested for ADHD…1 1/2 yrs later I’m diagnosed ADHD and now on the right medication…life changing

Alex :
It is one of the worst aspects of ADHD. Constantly walking on egg shells, hyper aware of the least little comment, tone of voice, mannerism. Over interpreting everything through an agonising self-critical lens. I f*cking hate it.

My ears literally feel like its on fire and I can feel myself short circuiting. I can be the best in a room and someone points out a flaw in something i did, i feel myself spiraling

I think it’s hurts so much because I am a perfectionist and I thought I’d cover every apect of the task so I wouldn’t be critiqued , there always seems to be someone who will find something it’s learning to let go which is not easy.

The wiser thing someone could say is can we have a chat later and my minds starts running a million miles a hour to work out what they want to talk to me about and I can't think of anything else.

It’s devastating, to the point where I never ask anybody to meet up, I never ask for anything, I’m terrified of being turned down. Same with criticism, always give everything all I’ve got to avoid it.

I don’t believe it is just a trauma response. Feels like something is hyper sensitive in my brain triggered it feels more physical, than emotional.

Southern Belle Lily :
Understanding this is a thing has helped me to redirect my thoughts and sorta coach myself out of the negative thought. When I try to explain this to friends or family they call it an excuse and to stop being so sensitive.

RSD has had a huge impact on my ability to thrive in life. I feel different to others and prefer to be on my own rather than socialise now.
