Or is the reason we wear golf clothes on the course in the first place because that’s what’s the most comfortable to wear in that type of environment?

It’s only a polo shirt after all and shoes are made for the terrain, simples

Maybe it’s because golf attire is actually practical

You’re walking on grass…. You don’t need to wear golf shoes when you’re just walking on grass. The golf shoes are giving you grip in your stance for your swing, nothing else lol.

When I walk the dog I'm walking on the same surface if not more extreme than if I play golf.... I don't wear my gold shoes walking the dog.

I agree for the most part. But are golf shoes not designed for playing golf, rather than walking a course? I.e particular grip for swinging a golf club. So hiking shoes might be better?

I wore golf shoes yesterday, feet bone dry and didn’t slip once even during that torrential rain

I think it is weather dependent for shoes... I don't vibe the golf attire for watching either. It's like wearing the full football kit to the airport. You want others to know (that you play golf or support a team)

The very ones complaining about spectators wearing golf shoes are the very ones in soppy trainers and wet socks after the rounds finished.

I saw a woman flying down that bank that you mentioned at St George’s one year. Would definitely wear my golf shoes to stop sliding on the mounds. Better than trainers.

I’m not gonna rock up in full spiked FJ Premieres….but I need something that’s gonna keep my feet dry when walking on the morning dew and something that’s gonna grip on the banks

Also when it comes to waterproofs. I only own golf waterproofs, so if I want to stay dry in the rain what else could I possibly wear

Shoes to protect the ground, help the greens keeper out. Wear your favourite brand clothing as its guaranteed there will be reps there who like to see their gear worn

We went on Friday and we wore golf shoes as there was rain forecasted. In the middle of the showers we seen a lad slip and fall on one of them slopes and he was wearing runners
