@nickthrowsafit: What happened to Abercrombie? It started as a store for sportsmen, and somehow it turned into where to shop for the old money aesthetic. It’s a company that has lived a lot of lives, had a lot of controversy, but has managed to stay afloat amongst the most turbulent waters. #fashionhistory #abercombie #abercrombiefitch #mall #retail #fyp
Nah the quality is worse and it’s lost its design identity. The old a&F had identity and the quality was great. Now it’s just another Zara

I was a teen in the 2000s and I never stepped a single foot inside one of the stores!

Their rebrand was necessary and appreciated by most. Much broader audience now that it’s not just for rich high school kids 😂

I work with some of the abercrombie archives for my PhD and I always laugh seeing them now, when in comparison to 1900 they were the largest importer of firearms from the UK to the US

It has become unbelievably boring. Like old man's clothing. Autumn colors no exceptions. I remember when they opened in London and Copenhagen. I would line up. Now, not so much 💀😂

Rebrand was great but now it’s over priced for no reason when they release the same styles 🥴

In the early 1990s Atlanta had one A&F at Phipps Plaza. It was still an old man’s store. I loved finding corduroys in rich purples and deep greens. It was my style over sized tees and old man pants.

I once found an Abercrombie and Fitch safari hat in an antique store. I was surprised by the name inside and that's when I learned of their outdoor gear roots. I always regret not buying it.

I had a sweatshirt from them in the 80’s when they still sold sporting goods. The whole line of sweatshirts was nautical flags and their meaning. Mine was “I am on fire and have dangerous cargo on board” The change that happened shortly after that was crazy!

This brand has been quite a rollercoaster! Can you dive into the different store concepts - chain store, canoe store, up to the new getaway store? I think one even predates the chain store. All brands were so immersive. Ruehl was the most impressive, and Gilly Hicks never got to reach its potential.
