@drbeckyatgoodinside: I feel deeply conflicted about labels. On one hand, they can be so validating - there’s comfort in realizing, “Oh, this is real. I’m not alone. There’s a name for this.” That kind of recognition can feel like a lifeline. But here’s the other side: labels can also become cages. When we start saying, “My kid is X, so they can’t do Y,” the label stops being a tool and starts being a limit. Our kids are never just one thing. They are dynamic, whole, and capable of change. Let’s use labels when they help and always remember they’re just part of the story. Want to hear more of my thoughts on this? Agree completely. Got my son diagnosed with ADHD to get a 405 plan. Do I really think he has ADHD? Maybe maybe not

This is exactly it. In our house we use the diagnosis to help get a child the tools, help, knowledge they need to accomplish anything they strive for. They set their limit.

Hey so deleting the video we've all heard about is the opposite of owning your mistakes and learning from them. But I understand as a psychologist with a PhD you might not realize that.
