@risingfromthered: Replying to @BB2GNZ When people say we should return to America’s “Christian roots,” I don’t think they realize what that actually looked like. It wasn’t unity. It was theocracy. It was mandatory church attendance, public punishments, and religious tests for office. And yes, people were killed for dissent. The Constitution said “no religious test” for a reason. Let’s stop romanticizing control and start telling the truth. #RisingFromTheRed #ChristianNationalism #ReligiousFreedom #ChurchAndState #TheocracyIsntUnity #AmericanHistory #Puritans #ConstitutionalFacts #HistoryMatters #FoundingMyths #TikTokEducation #Quakers #BannedAndBanished #ChristianRootsReexamined @revmarksandlin @reverendmolly @exvangelicalpastor @Dan McClellan
And wasnt Rhode Island colony the haven for those seeking "religious freedom" from the other colonies?

It was never meant to be a Christian nation. Reading a little TRUE history and you would know that. The ignorance of saying we are a Christian nation proves indoctrination, not truth.

My question would be which denomination would rule this country?
We have over two thousand different denominations.

Most of the colonies were founded on different religions Penn -quakers, Maryland- Catholic, Rhode Island was a melting pot, etc. a lot of our founding fathers’ ideas were based on John Locke…which he believed that every person deserved to be treated like a person which he wrote after studying and seeing the inhumane. John Lockes Christian views were all over the place….so yes while the idea of “inalienable rights” was based on his views of Christianity, the founding fathers were deists.

I think these people are aware of the atrocities, but are totally OK with reenacting them.

I just finished reading “the founding myth: Why Christian nationalism is unamerican” by Andrew Seidel. Truly life changing and really reinforced for me that all you need to do is repeat something enough (e.g., Christian was founded on Christianity) for people to believe it

My ancestors were the 1st colonists- founding many New England places (1st YT settlers) they weee not unified. 2 of the women were accused of witchcraft & many of them lived in fear - it was not a good time except the male controllers

Roger Williams was my 11th Great grandfather. Mary Dyer was the wife of my 3rd cousin twice removed. I'm very anti theocracy. I'm very pro separation of Church and state. It runs deep I'll just say.

I think that’s the point of the Christian Nation BS. To hear men like Doug Wilson tell it, the nation is supposed to be theocratic regardless of what denomination is in charge. Supposedly we’ve come to a point where denominational baggage is a thing of the past, which I doubt because tribalism still exists. Yet, the Christian heritage they want is the theocracy.

You are 100% correct! It’s amazing how many people think that all the colonists were united in this idea of religious freedom when that is 100% bullshit
