We have made the Illinois to gulf shore run many times through the night. The kids had two options After 10 pm, They could sleep or they could stare out the window. No talking. They always slept. 🙂

When I traveled with my parents from Florida to Minnesota, it took us 3 days because my dad would only drive 8 hours a day. With my truck driver husband who drives 11 hours daily while working, we got from FL to TN in 12 hours. Would have been less if we hadn’t had to stop for bathroom and food breaks for the kids.

Girl! Leave at bedtime! We go from central IL to Florida and leave at 8pm and usually arrive about 12. Kids usually sleep until 7ish when sun starts coming up!

My MIL and I do this trip a few times (doing it next week again) from Racine wi where she lives but we start in the morning. We only stop for gas (unless emergencies) and usually can do it in 17 hours with stops

gulf shores is too crowded. I much more recommend Navarre beach in Florida. it's right between Pensacola and Destin. not crowded at all and the water is so blue. it's kind of a secretive location but it's getting more popular.

Central IL here! We travel to Gulf Shores often. When kiddos were little we left around 8pm or so. They’d sleep all night and it made the drive so much easier! Poor dad driving all night but he didn’t mind 😉 Nap for him at the Beach house first thing though! 🌴
