I just got into the games and frankly am amazed at how this fictional company has people fooled irl since umbrella handpicked almost every character for the STARS and UBCS. I’m sure the average person back then wouldn’t know it’s evil and is basically a eugenics corporation working hand in hand with the government. Wasn’t even Wesker shocked that umbrella just decided to use the stars to see how good the prototypes in the mansion were? That’s why after his betrayal he immediately swapped sides and hired Ada for a rival company/government? Carlos was literally 21 years old and going through one of the most difficult and traumatic childhoods any character in this game has since the age of 7 who was probably just glad he was handpicked to work for Umbrella and not rotting away in prison for war crimes for the rest of his life
