Flying over weather systems in remote areas is not always possible so you have to fly low. I assume this was training for avoiding terrain in low visibility maybe

If it’s for work for engineerings, they might be worning down the fly by wire (hope you understand what I mean) or the body of the aircraft so engineers can work on to restore and fix or replace parts in aircraft. Just a thought but idk
