the people pressed in the comments says so much about their character. saying that it's a "medical term" and then how it means that people are being stupid. like that's the whole point of an insult babes. thanks for speaking up about this cause it irks me when people try to justify any slur.

I feel so bad for saying it as a kid cuz my parents would say it all the time and I didn't realize how bad it was. And when people use it to refer to 'dumb people' it makes me sick like just say dumb why even use the r slur 😭

It's crazy how quickly medical terms or descriptors for individuals with IDD become insults. Like dumb used to mean mute. The R word used to be a medical term but because people use these words as insults they become taboo and it's wild how quickly it can happen.

When I was a teenager this was common to use and I admit to using it when was young. But I grew up, changed, and got better as a human. Now, especially as a Mom to a son with autism, it breaks my heart I ever thought it was ok. If you are a Boomer or GenX who used this in the 80s and 90s, let’s collectively decide to grow up and change and get better. This word is gross and not ok.

I HAAAATE it when neurotypical people use it. That word has been used against me as an autistic woman several times, but i do not mind when those marginalized individuals (like myself) use it :^ idk
