:I actually didn't graduate til I was 19 bcuz I had to repeat 2nd grade. came here in kinder but I was dyslexic so I had a really hard time reading Spanish yet alone English too. the kids were ruthless with me repeating a grade. honestly it's my biggest embarrassment but in 11th grade I had an amazing ESL teacher who pushed me to apply to college. I went on to get my masters in both nursing and social work. I'm so grateful fir that teacher 💙

I’m a teacher and teach English Language Learners and they’re so respectful and caring. I wouldn’t trade my students for anything!!! I was also in ESL in kinder and remember crying. I had a sweet teacher and she was so patient with me. I want to be that advocate and safe space for my students.

This happened to me as well when we moved to Guanajuato from the US I was also in the 6th grade ..I knew no Spanish literally understood nothing and it was traumatic even now when I listen to music or pick up certain smells from that era they bring me back memories from that time and they definitely trigger my anxiety thankfully although I grew up as a no sabo kid I Now speak and write perfect Spanish and I’m so proud of myself 😌✨

I grew up in a home where Spanish was not spoken and if I heard Spanish, she was just between my grandparents and my mom. I have picked up things here and there, especially in church in the Spanish language, but I’ll be damned if I just sit there and not help someone in my very broken Spanish that doesn’t speak English. I don’t care who makes fun of my Spanish.
