It’s a long explanation and it’s available for free on the internet. There are people here on TikTok who explain better than I can. Here it is briefly: the majority of the land mass is north of the equator. Most of the world’s population lives in the northern hemisphere which is tilted towards the sun this time of year. This causes the daylight to last over 15 hours a day at the longitudes that are most densely populated. So the half of the earth that was in darkness included the Antarctic and South Pacific. Places that are sparsely populated.

Yes because 99% of people live on one face of the earth. Depending on the inclination of its own axis in regards to the sun, 99% of earth population is bathed by the sun. This happends every summer since manking's been here.

Earth is flat though ... The height and location of the sun is the answer. The size of the sun is constant. It's height and axis constantly shifts so if it were centre of a flat earth with enough height to allow a wider ray of sunshine , hence most of the surface lit up at the same time.

you can simulate that using google earth go to history and change the date to july 11th change the time to 11:15UTC. and check the sunlight is covering all the populated areas as when it is sunset in East of Russia it will be sunrise in the west of USA and Canada , because most of the other side of the earth is an ocean.
