Yes, this is in reference to Age of Scorpius. To be completely honest, I was extremely nervous for this author from the get go. When I saw her videos appear on my FYP, our stories seemed so similar. We’ve both been developing our universes for approximately a decade, and this book will eventually be my first published book. However, I have read some of what’s publicly available, and I do have to agree that what I’ve read is a bit underbaked and could have used another read-through by an editor. My greatest fear is releasing something that I’m not proud of, so I’ve spent a lot of time writing, scrapping, and re-writing. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve rewritten this book, but it’s more than I can count on my fingers and toes. Eventually, I want to send my finished manuscript to editors unrelated to me — as many of them as I can afford. As this has been unfolding, I’ve been listening to more experienced indie authors, and trying to take notes about what I should and shouldn’t do. I don’t want to comment on why this all happened, or bash the author any further. My heart goes out to her, and I hope she’s taking space from the internet and all the negativity. I would just like to say that one of the biggest take always for me is: if you spend 10ish years developing a universe, your writing should change and improve over that time. The universe you’re writing in should change and improve over that time. Even though I started my book-writing journey in middle school, I do not still write like I’m still in middle school. I don’t have much of a way to end this rambling, other than to encourage people to keep writing. Keep writing, keep improving, and maybe… maybe there’s a good reason most indie authors only sell a few copies of their first book. #indieauthor #ageofscorpius #writing #book
