There are plenty of incredible boondocking camps on the island that we won't list here. If that is more your speed, do a little digging and you'll find plenty to choose from! We’re breaking down our go-to spots with prices, amenities, and all the details you need to plan your next adventure 👇 1. 5040 Hike, Alberni-Clayoquot - Free! But it is a difficult 6.9 km, 928 m, out-and-back climb to get here! Camping spots at Cobalt Lake, near the Alpine Hut or on the ridge/5040 peak. Pit toilets and bear caches available. Usually only accessible in July and August due to snow. No permits or reservations needed. ⚠️ Please do your research before attempting a trip here! 2. Mystic Beach, Juan de Fuca Provincial Park - $10 per adult, per night. ⚠️ The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is closed for the summer but Mystic Beach camping remains open. Pit toilets and bear caches available. Open year round. First come, first served. Pay and register at the trailhead. 3. Pine Point Rec Site, Cowichan Lake - $20. Pit toilets, picnic table and firepit available. Open March to October. Sites are available for reservations and first come, first served. 4. Pachena Bay Campground, Bamfield - $42 off-season, $62 peak season. Washrooms, showers, picnic tables and firepit available. Open March to November. Reserve and book online. 5. Nahwitti Lake Rec Site, Port Hardy - Free! ⚠️ This site is temporarily closed due to tree hazards and will be reopened soon after completion of falling activities. Pit toilets, picnic tables and firepit available. Only 8 campsites here. First come, first served. 6. Bella Pacifica Campground, Tofino - $65 off-season, $125 peak season. Washrooms, showers, picnic tables and firepit available. Open February to November. ⚠️ This is a very popular campground and you need to book months in advance! Reserve and book online. ✨ The prices listed here are for tent sites. If you have an RV, check websites for rates. ‼️ Please Leave No Trace when using these campsites! Many of them rely on its users to keep it clean, so always pack out what you pack in. ‼️ Always check for fire bans before having a campfire!
