@alz.analogies: Alzheimer’s is like walking down a staircase. It’s not a smooth downhill slope. It’s a series of steps—stable for a while, then a sudden drop. One infection. One fall. One hospital stay. And they don’t come all the way back. They level off—but on a new step, a new baseline. That’s called stepwise decline. You don’t know how many steps there are. Or how fast they’ll come. 💜 Caregiver Tip: Focus on the step you’re on right now. Don’t wear yourself out trying to see all the way to the bottom. #ALZisLike #ALZAnalogies #AlzheimersAwareness #dementia #Caregiversupport #DementiaJourney #alzheimers
That’s a good analogy and solid advice. Thank you. I always say about my mom with dementia that I go to the memory care unit to see who she is today, not to see a version of my mom I knew in the past.
