I also hate a hidden halo...but I do recommend a simple/clean gallery rail for safety? or maybe get 6 prongs?

I love a simple ring. I think halos give the same energy as those weird high low skirts/dresses from 2014 and I can’t elaborate further.

Ok I’m a gemologist and jeweler you do not need a gallery rail lol why is everyone lyinggggg!!!! Get it cleaned and checked at a jeweler at least once (ideally twice) a year to make sure the prongs are stable

All ima say is my friend called me today to tell me she had the entire nail salon on their hands and knees today looking for a ten thousand dollar discontinued diamond because she only has prongs 😅

Girl! Don’t use your homeowners insurance, it technically is covered, but if something happends to your ring you have to do a claim.. against your homeowners insurance and it WILL go up. That affects your monthly mortgage (especially if your insurance is escrowed). Get a separate policy, that are actually super reasonable, I recommend jewlers mutual! I’m talking like 1-200 ish dollars a year and they will replace it exactly, for no copay (you can designate a low amount to make it cheaper)

I have a solitaire and haven’t had any issues with the top stone. Get it checked every year and they will touch up the prongs if necessary. I’ve had mine for 13 years and it’s fine

Been in fine jewelry 5 years. If it’s white gold, I’d recommend looking into adding a gallery rail. If it’s platinum, much stronger, should be fine without that for 20+ years. It’s gorgeous! 🫶🏽

I have the same setting on an oval with 4 prongs and it sits a bit higher. Been wearing it 3 years and take it in for biannual inspections and never had any issues.

You can get it reset into a 6 prong basket with platinum prongs, which will be more secure than 3, and what is probably just white gold. Gold is soft and bends easily. Platinum is a better option.

Just go to the jeweler af least once a uear and have them check the setting to tighten it up. Also make sure your ring is on your home insurance policy so if the stone is lost they will cover a replacement.

If you have this style, you should have 6 prongs instead of 4 prongs. If one fails, you are WAY LESS likely to lose the stone

You’ll be fine! Just get the prongs inspected every 6 months

You need a gallery rail. It doesn’t need to have any stones set in it but it will improve the structural integrity of the ring so you’re less likely to lose a stone

I have nearly this exact ring, 14 years and going strong, just make sure you get it checked annually and build the prongs back up when they wear

My friends are having issues with their rings/stones coming lose/falling out 😅 scaring me so bad. Tips I’ve heard is to have your ring cleaned/checked about every 6 months and to be EXTRA caustious

I agree 100% and have the same ring. Never a problem but take it in to check and clean, for free with the purchase every 3 mths. I thought the same worried about losing it but I have never had a problem. It’s been 27 years. Halo rings are not cute.

Add extra prongs! My ring has 6 prongs rather than just 4. Super secure, still very simple!

I am a jeweler (I know my profile doesn’t look like it haha) and I see nothing to worry about here. Those prongs are sturdy enough to not need a gallery rail. As long as the prongs are properly in place and smoothed on top, you’re fine. I have also been wearing a ring exactly like that for 12 years and I have never had to adjust it once…you have good taste ;)

I just ended up getting six prongs after having a spinning diamond twice and then almost losing it…. Had a very similar setting simple for prong.

and to me that is the ugliest kind of ring there is. it's all preference and yes, your diamond is in risk of falling out. if you want to keep it like that then do it but you might lose your stone

your setting is perfectly fine, halos and guard rails don't make a setting any stronger. what holds the diamond in with all of the types of settings discussed are the tips of the prongs. just make sure you get your ring inspected every six months, don't wear it when you clean, do regular maintenance on it and get it insured (that's advice applicable to ALL rings)

it will be covered on your homeowners insurance. you have to have it appraised and added to your homeowners policy.
