My pain does increase during anxiety but it doesn’t mean I am not in real pain or that my pain is less valid

When I was in clinicals for my paramedic cert I got to see a c-section. The dr talked and BS’d so long her anesthesia was wearing off while closing her uterus and she suddenly started screaming “ow ow ow!” And the Dr yelled at the anesthesiologist to keep her under, the anesthesiologist told the Dr they should have been closed 45 minutes ago. It was awkward as a student. I just held the patients hand cause her husband was with the baby in the other room. 😬

What would you do if you have a panic attack every time for a section? I go on Tuesday for my 3rd and I don’t know how to help it.

I asked my office about failed epidural and spinals. She told me if they couldn’t get me comfortable for a C-section they’d just knock me out 😮💨

I had a full blown panic attack on the table right before it started, BP started getting very low and I felt very sick.. I told the anesthesiologist and he fixed it immediately

I’ve had every epidural fail, I refuse to trust a spinal at this point.

I had two spinal anesthesias in my life. One, for an operatikn on my keg, worked perfectly. The second one, for a cesarean section, did not work. At all. I felt all of it: the cutting, the burning, excruciating pain. They put so much pain meds in me on the table, I STILL felt everything. Every cut, every stitch that sewed me up after, everything. It was absolutely traumatizing. The doctor came to me afterwards and mumbled some kind of apology, sth like that had apparently “never happened to him before”.

Thank you for talking about that. I went to the hospital experiencing preterm labor thankfully, I did not give birth, I do have history of anxiety and panic attack. The nurse use it against me even though since I am pregnant I have never had anxiety or panic attack because I’m happy to be pregnant but she just use it against me. I told my doctor because I’m having a C-section.l I don’t want that nurse to be on my team whatsoever. My doctor was very understandable. I’m waiting for my C-section in like a month and a half now if the baby decided not to come until then.

This happened to me. The epidural wore off and I kept telling them I could feel it, then more, then more, going from pressure to pain to screaming in agony over a few minutes and they had to knock me out.

I told them I felt very anxious when I wanted into the OR and within seconds my team had a nice little shot in my IV that had me so relaxed.

the anesthesiologist told me he was not confident that he could get surgical anesthesia from the epidural I had he recommended a spinal block and was ready to put me under if it didn't work (greatfut!)

Maybe it hurts because someone is cutting into a major abdominal organ.

I felt 100% in my C-section start to finish. The whole time I was told “you’re just feeling pressure”. That was 30 years ago and I have PTSD to this day.

dentist telling me I was just feeling vibrations during fillings when I was feeling pain and having to white knuckle through it is why I didn't go to dentist for a long time, has same experience getting stitches . it was pain , I burn through freezing fast and it doesn't work as well . also reason I'm afraid to have surgery

During my 2nd section I had to close my eyes and deep breathe the entire time. When complications arouse (after delivery) the anesthetist knocked me out, per my request. I was a HOT mess during my 1st section.

I went to the ER twice 2 weeks after my c-section bc I was having chest pain. They ran all the tests but everything came back negative. The doctor there said it could just be anxiety. I spoke to my primary care doctor about it and she said it could just be musculoskeletal pain.

I had to have a sit-down with an anesthesiologist about how the patient was clearly reacting to what I was doing. He was like "I can give her some ketamine, but my spinal is fine." I said "Her reaction says otherwise! Please do the ketamine!"

I told them with my first c/s i was in pain, they gave me morphine for the pain, and don't remember my daughters first day. With with my second I didn't tell them and lost a lot of 🩸 from the pain. 22 years later I still don't get good pain relief from numbing or nerve blockers. I've had two total knee replacements and I had nerve pain or no feeling in the lower part of my leg for months afterwards.
