asriel is the only character that reflects what it means to have so many experiences with people that you learn how to love. as a flower without any souls, he cannot love. as a flower, he doesn’t let people become part of him, he only lets hatred and fear scare everyone away, and so he is left with nothing, and he has no soul. but as he absorbs everyone’s souls, the souls themself have experiences and compassion, and as he absorbs everyone’s soul, he now becomes love itself. he becomes ‘himself’. essentially, because everyone’s soul is within him, that of which makes his soul his. and i think that’s beautiful. it’s a reminder that while we have our own soul, our soul is the product of love that everyone has shown us, and that we are in some way formed by the people around us. i hope this makes sense in some way 🥲

undertale is actually one of the games that effected me the most as a child, there's some funny and carefree times, but there's also moments in this game that are so real and emotional, it shows you the effect of friendship and empathy, that you're never really alone with the people you love, and no matter what type of hardship you go through you'll always make it with the help of your friends (cheesey, but still. haha)
