As someone who is watching this season it’s so bad, and it’s not just the contestants it’s also the production just based on how they frame things and also who gets screen time and who doesn’t.

I haven’t watched any Love Island, but the most blatant racism I’ve ever seen on reality TV has been on European shows. Like is the US racism more insidious because there is “plausible deniability”? yes… but at least the culture doesn’t allow for the straight up stuff to go unchecked 😭

I know this is in reference to love island, but so much race discourse in the UK really irks me because of how much they downplay racism. I remember when some poc were like "hey calling your ethnic food 'a (insert word for a person)' comes off weird and mildly degrading and all the yf folk were like "youre too sensitive, its just our culture" my apologies for double taking white men craving "a chinese"

Living there even as a white person I was flabbergasted by how racist and xenophobic folks were. They truly believed they were living in a post racial society. Not to mention the way they think they can speak Americans is vile. They think they can call you stupid to your face based solely on your nationality. I got told to go back to my country so many times. For a country that thinks their so polite 🙄
