deductibles are not a scam. lets say that you pay for your insurance every month, then when you go see a doctor for a general visit, you pay 30$ and the insurance company pays around 150$, then lets say you need an MRI which on average is 11k$, you pay $1,600 and the insurance company pays the rest. insurance companies dont make $ on sick people, they make their fortunes on healthy people who never use the insurance. but healthy people have insurance in case they need it. the older you get, the more likely it is that you will need it. on the other hand, pharmaceutical companies make $ on sick people, doctors make money on sick people, but not insurance companies. although there are insurance companies that will deny claims for certain reasons, you have to know that not everything is covered.

I feel like America now is where it was in the late 1800s early 1900s. Business and the wealthy have all the control and the government cares more about their wellbeing than the people. I’m not diabetic but I think it is criminal that insulin here is on average $100 when almost every other country it is $10

And then they find every way possible to deny the claims you make to them too. You can’t forget that part….

For profit insurance is a scam. All insurance funds should go to care with reasonable admin costs none of it should be going to shareholders to make money off of people’s lives

And with most insurance policies, you have to meet a deductible which is ‘usually’ between $500-$5,000. Then once you meet that you would pay a coinsurance which is a percentage they set ‘usually’ 10% to 50% and you continue to pay that until you meet your maximum out-of-pocket which averages between $5,000-$15,000. But also they won’t tell you that not all services will be added to your deductible but to your out-of-pocket so then that makes your deductible take longer to reach. But does add more to your out-of-pocket which doesn’t matter until you meet your deductible 🤣🤣🤣 can you tell I work with insurance every single day?

there’s a lot of “young generation” this and “these kids” that in these comments, but if you have been fortunate enough to not have had to go through major surgeries then it makes sense you don’t know why it is the way it is.

My brother and I were talking about this and it’s because doctors can state whatever the cost of things are and insurance companies have to pay it however, if you were and I were to go in and ask for an itemized bill, you would see how expensive the smallest little thing isbut yet you can pair it to what we can buy it for and it’s cheaper why is that?

sounds like a deductible. all insurance has it, including car and pet insurance. usually, most things are covered up to a certain point, then after your deductible is paid, you wont owe anything out of pocket.

It’s a scam like most insurance systems in this country it was an opportunity to make profit they saw success and implemented it in the most fundamental aspects of our lives. Transportation, Health, people are putting insurance policies on their lives.
