@harrischronicles: I bust my butt to supply for my child and there needs not for the whole class. #schoolsupplies #schoolsupplylist #backtoschool #question #latrese #fyp #foryoupage
You are not supplying other kids. Teachers are supplying them. It’s just easier for a teacher

Whatever my daughter wants to be special stays home. I am buying whatever the teacher is asking for communal supplies. In fact, I always buy extra because I know there’s gonna be a child who cannot contribute. Because that’s what it is to be in a community. If I want my child to be a good person, I have to be the example of that good person.

Teaches do not have time to make sure each child gets what they brought. When supplies run out, the teacher spends her own money. As long as everyone has what they need, it’s all good. Don’t be a pain!! Crayons are all the same. 🤦🏽♀️

You’re not buying supplies for everyone. You’re buying the supplies that the teacher estimates your child will go through in a year, and the teacher is managing those supplies so that if your child’s glue stick runs out or they happen to lose a pencil, the teacher can just put a pencil in their hand and they can continue working. Most parents just want that to happen. They don’t want their kids getting zeros or sitting around and doing nothing just because their glue stick is out.

Kinder teacher here and if it matters to you that much keep it at home. I’ll make sure they have what they need. It’s easier.

First of all, we are asking for generic supplies. Cutie stuff I’m either gonna let them use individually or I’m gonna send it home because it’s gonna become a problem in the classroom. The reasoning for no names and generic supplies is for storage purposes. They are not gonna use all the things we’ve asked for on the first day of school. If I have to find their specific cute little notebook in January that becomes a problem. Also the reason for generic supplies is so that we don’t have arguments over my folder. My notebook is better than your folder and your notebook because I have a cutie character on mine. Scissors I don’t let my students who are kindergarten in first graders. Keep their scissors. That’s just a seat waiting to come to be. Pencils, we want yellow pencils. Cutie pencils don’t sharpen properly and the plastic wrap that makes it cutie gets stuck in the pencil sharpener. We are typically asking for a specific colored folder that we use for communication purposes. Cutie folders don’t last. We are going to write their name really big on the front cover. we want plain plastic folders. In all the reasoning for the labeling or the fact that we don’t specifically want it labeled is for storage. Because I’m gonna tell you the parents that don’t supply us with anything those kids are still getting supplies because I’m buying them for them.

I’m gonna be the parent to say this since everybody in the comments is tip toeing around peoples feelings! WHETHER ANOTHER CHILD HAS SCHOOL SUPPLIES OR NOT IS NOT MY PROBLEM! I dont work and save up money all summer long to buy supplies for other people’s children 🤷♀️sorry but not sorry! And if my child comes home and tells me that another child has his school supplies then I go to the school and show out until it gets returned and I don’t care either. Notebooks and folders and pencils are expensive and it’s not fair to my child or me to have to share his supplies that I paid for.

Don’t get cheap now! 😂😂😂😂. I’m balling out for the teachers when it comes to school supplies. We got money to ball out on fancy shoes, backpacks, and clothes. Keep that same energy with the supply list. I always double the list of items. Let those children put this stuff to use learning! It’s not that serious. 😂😂😂😂

Not everyone can afford the supplies. Not only do I send in my kid's supplies without names but also extras. I also sponsor some foster kids. No wonder some kids today are entitled. They are taught by not sharing.

As a teacher. So many kids do not have supplies. When you lend them something, they break them or lose them or do crazy things with them. We end up spending a ton of money Out of our own pockets. It’s insane.

I plan on telling the parents that every child needs their own supplies this year. I’m not providing any of it. Sounds harsh, but it was an issue last year. I put out over 3,000 pencils and found them broken or sharpened to the eraser.

honest question: why aren't parents demanding schools to supply cleaning products they have a budget for that, also the school should supply pencils and paper...parents need to come together and demand change

Here’s the deal…your supplies aren’t going to kids with poor parents! They are going to the CLASSROOM! I use them whether they have names or not. Our time is worth more than checking names in supplies on the floor, or digging for your child’s name when they need glue in the middle of a project. You do you, but odds are high they will not get a pencil with their name on it in the next 9 months!

i am a teacher. I do community supplies. Like glue, rulers, pencils, journals, pencils…. Everything thing else is theirs but stays in class. (Headphones, binders, school boxes). I also contribute to the supplies during the year. The way I do it: I never ask you for anything besides field trip money the rest of the year… if your child needs anything new, I replace it with the community supplies. ❤️

I put my child's name on everything with a sharpie. I only sent in enough for my child. I started this after my child never had enough school supplies even after I sent in everything requested.

I put my childs name on all my childs things and I didnt buy the the supply list. I figured out real quick teachers trying to be slick and have the parents fit the bill. I refused! It is not my responsibility to supply for all the kids, because parents dont want to supply for their children.

My kids are adults now but when they were in school I sent in extra. Nothing that would break the bank. I figured someday I may be in need of help and I hope someone would help me.

I’m gonna put my kids name on their supplies if they would like me to donate additional supplies they should say so. But the supplies that I sent for my child are for my child.

As a teacher, if you wanna put their names on it go ahead! If they have anything left at the end of the year it makes it easier to send home.

As a teacher I really liked the shared supply baskets. It saved time and kept the lessons moving. I did however teach in an area where most families could not provide supplies so I purchased supplies for the entire class.
