@chrisgatesfitness: Focusing on the end result can derail everything. Take it from me, because I was guilty of this for a long time. I’d start lifting and expect to see dramatic results in a few weeks or a month. And of course it didn’t happen, because that’s not how strength training works. And since I focused my expectations on the end result immediately, I’d get really frustrated and quit when the quick results didn’t happen. It was a vicious cycle and negatively impacted my progress with health and fitness across the board. So if I could offer any single piece of advice for new lifers it would be this… Focus on the process instead of the outcome. If you can fall in love with the process and experiencing those incremental wins on a daily and weekly basis… You WILL see incredible results. And you won’t get frustrated and quit.
