I think life is more brutal than and in a way these stories were Bare bear kids for the brutalities of their lives like polio the plague ... I grew up with them frankly I find Noah in the Ark in the Bible one of the most horrifying stories and somehow kids make that into a little bedtime story

They were never meant to be kids stories. We associate many of these stories as kids stories because of the movies. But they are all dark. Even Pinocchio is extremely dark
