literally me every time I go to the er. last time it took 5 nurses a phlebotomist and when that didn't work they called anaesthesia to get it literally poked me 25 times just for the IV to blow 2 hours later

I had two nurses once tell me what a trooper I was as they moved the needle in and out to catch the vein. Like what am I supposed to do??

i have this exact problem. i have only had 1 nurse that was able to get me on the first try and that was at my rheumatologist.

I got told by a phlebotomist of 25 years that I was in her “top 15 hardest sticks” and she estimated she did 50+ IVs a DAY… I got stuck 19 times total that day (3 nurses and phlebotomist before her)

I explain to them that I have a connective tissue disorder, I have blown a midline and they have a hard time getting it with an ultrasound even the phlebotomist because of scar tissue. I really need to minimize the amount of pokes

My regular IVs fail within hours and I will always request that they PLEASE not try to flush it unless they absolutely have to and they blow me off and ignore me and attempt to flush anyway and end up hurting me because surprise surprise the vein has BLOWN or it’s infiltrated. I’ve also had the IV nurse ignore me when I request a midline which is what the doctor said they’d order. The IV nurse claimed they wanted to do the less invasive option first and I was too sick to fight so I said “fine” luckily it lasted but that was the first time in over a year that anything else besides a midline lasted longer than a day. My veins branch off in random spots and are torturous. I always tell them I’m a hard stick. They really need to listen to us. We know our bodies best we know what we need and what or who works best.

They where going for a subclavian vein on me once because they couldn't get anything else when a male nurse from ICU came in and got me first stick

I have what looks like really great veins in my elbow on my left arm I had strep throat a a little over a year and a half ago went to the ER told them not to use those veins cuz as a kid they were used all the time and now they blow and roll which was always a problem the nurse insisted on trying them she blew three of my veins in my arm but not before making it known that I was a difficult patient for trying to advocate for myself while barely being able to talk
