A leading cause of death in junior doctors is accidents (like falling asleep at the wheel after a gruelling shift or being on-call), as are cardiovascular disease and cancer. Safe to say, the job has risks and needs a liveable wage at a bare minimum and SHOULD be paid well enough to enable specialists to thrive, regardless of their background.

Now imagine being a working class doctor who comes from a poor family and you’re not even able to fall back on them! Majority of doctors come from a family of wealth and/or other doctors. This career is not made for WORKING CLASS people. We’re literally fighting for our lives to be heard and appreciated. It’s actually dire and we need the public to back us.

and yet people have no qualms about pilots being paid more than flight attendants, baggage staff, flight desk staff etc we are the pilots in this scenario...even day 1 pilots are responsible for that whole plane

Fatigued? How many hours r u working? Saw a junior driver doctor complaining about 44 hours a week recently. It was 84 when I was young!!!

Most doctors will only have one employer (NHS, therefore the government). If they don’t strike for better pay and working conditions the only other option is leaving the country, which many are.
