my headcanon is that he saw the test strikes from the death star on both jedha and scarif and that why he's so confident in the death star

The fact that he met the Emperor’s Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Armed Forces at a work meeting, saw that he was a 7 ft tall armored cyborg with a laser sword and magical powers and thought to himself “I’m gonna show this guy who’s boss!”

Ignoring the force, he was talking down to a six and a half foot tall cyborg with a laser sword. The absolute STONES on that man

Unfortunately he died when the first Death Star blew up later in the movie. I guess it shows his misplaced faith in the battle station was his undoing. So if we do ever see him in Star Wars media again, it’ll have to be before a new Hope or during

From a Certain Point of View book, he spends part of his last day on the Death Star kicking around the idea of filing a religious discrimination complaint against Vader😂 nah but imagine

I love when people's favorite characters in a series full of magic wizards and ancient aliens are just Human Officer #24 (Same, I really like Captain Needa and Admiral Piett)

It's such a great performance. I'd argue that most of the premise of Star Wars hinges on this performance, because it's this scene that establishes the Empire's MO, the current view of the Jedi in the setting, AND that the Force is actually a real magic thing, not just a religion. And he NAILS it.

I mean space Wizard aside, could you imagine if you work with a 6’7” Crazy Steve and you decide to bash his religion? Where is your survival instinct?
