Thank you for saying all this. As a white woman who wants to grow up to be a strong, independent black woman, I think that black women should run the world for all the reasons others try to squash: directness, credentials, loudness, confidence, passion. I know it’s exhausting in a way a lot of us will never know, and we still need you to keep going. (Also, white men like this CEO exhaust me with his whiny toddler, blaming behavior!)

I was told that I’m “too nice” last week, by someone who is rude, aggressive, and already getting on my team’s nerves. It got under my skin in so many ways because if I handled the client the way people like her do…I’m too aggressive and combative. I’m tired. My soul is weary.
