I had a phone thing yeaaars ago where it was a “church” asking me to send $792 so God can hear my prayer and give me a miracle. And I was like “what if the miracle I need is $792” and they took me off their call list 😂

I answer every phone call with some generic business name and a "calls will be monitored for quality assurance." and if it's for real a scammer than they usually hang up right away

I feel like we need to hold phone companies accountable because how on earth could they or even be allowed to pretend to be relatives or calling from a relatives phone

I am a white lady but married and have an Indian last name. I get CONSTANT scam calls saying there is something wrong with my green card or naturalization papers or the FBI had alerts from India’s Intelligence Bureau. Yeah okay buddy I was born here and I have never been to India. 🙄 But can you imagine the fear that must put actual immigrants through? It makes me so mad.

This is why I ignore every single link/ad I get even if people claim it’s real (ie, ads for stuff like “Netflix reviewer” claiming to give you easy money). They’re all scams. It’s always a scam. If it’s not a scam, I’m still not clicking that shit because the link is about to take my info to sell to scammers. I’m so deadass. U can’t trust any of them

Phishing used to target people who were older and had no social safety nets. Nowadays there is so much access to into that nobody is really safe. When I was moving out of my college apt, someone called my mother pretending to be a police officer saying I had been in a car accident. Luckily, she didn’t recognize the woman screaming in the background and checked my location (hadn’t been in a car for 48 hrs). But I think about that a lot. That was only three years ago

No joke I had my mom and all my siblings set up a code word to say on the phone to signal that we’re the actual person and not an AI clone because my mom got called by an AI clone of my oldest sister claiming she was in jail which thank god my mom clocked instantly

I never thought I’d fall for a scam, but there was an ad from a well known brand on this platform that was offering a giveaway- you just had to pay $1.99 for shipping. Well- they immediately started charging really high amounts. Luckily it was a gift credit card with limited funds.

I give golf lessons for a living, and I got an email about giving someone’s son Brian from a Gmail account with no info. I showed it to my boss and he got the same email, and it was a phishing email! It’s crazy
