Oppression isn’t a hierarchy, though. It’s more like a venn diagram. That’s what intersectionality is. Trans men are only saying “hey can we talk about us instead of trans women for a second?” *because no one ever talks about our issues.* We don’t want to silence you, or even talk over you, but we deserve to be heard, too. Trans women are more visible, so their oppression looks different, but it’s not a matter of which is “worse.” There’s no need to make this a competition.

Im...confused. Ive only seen trans men talking about how our issues are ignored or fly under the radar, while still pointing out that trans women do experience more discrimination and are in more danger than us. I dont think us discussing things, like how we get turned away from obgyn care frequently, is equivalent to mens rights activism ?? maybe im not seeing the same discussions youre seeing, but this feels like a dangerous parallel to be drawing

It’s not a competition. We are both oppressed, it just looks different. It’s the same with the gay men vs gay women oppression olympics. One isn’t more oppressed between the two it just looks different and as someone who once lived as lesbian and now lives as a trans man I can tell you there are a heap of parallels between the two experiences. I find that trans women just like to ignore both their experiences and our experiences with the world prior to coming out because it feels invalidating for y’all. Yall experienced benefitting from the patriarchy, we experienced being victimised by it, don’t take that away from us.

I disagree with you. It is incredibly alarming the way this community is uninformed and misinformed about trans men’s issues. Trans black men experience more violence than I as a white trans woman ever will. They do not inherit cis male privilege and most never will.

ive seen trans men talk about feeling dismissed and ignored in the lgbt community, i haven't seen any say that we are more oppressed. maybe a few people have but dont blame the actions of a small amount of us on all of us. we are able to talk about our issues and talking about our issues doesnt and should erase yall talking about your issues.
