Modifying a gown by cutting it is definitely not practicing aseptic technique 🙃 if you’re iobaning your wrist to prevent contamination then you can 100% stop cutting holes in sterile gowns

If you pull your hands back in the sleeves after you out the first layer on aren’t you contaminated?

Do you change gloves before touching the hip prothesis? I believe every scrub tech and surgeon should. Thanks!

So I am 1 week post ortho surgery…..a rod and screws from a femur fracture closely above a knee replacement. My question is I am running a low grade fever…99.5-99.9 currently. Can this be from surgery alone . I have no respiratory symptoms

But he put his back towards the back table which was sterile so doesn’t that mean that he contaminated it?

What happened to you putting gloves on first, the gown, and then your top gloves?

maybe cuz he's kinda young and inexperienced.. he's being over protective.. which is not a bad thing I guess. but I wouldn't like all the extra work that comes with that

Do not stick your hand out of the gown for gloving.

You scrub in with no mask, everything’s already contaminated

Hey Doc, I have a suggestion. Don't expose your hands while gloving and instead keep it inside the cuff. When the hand is exposed, it touches the inside of the glove that stretches up the sleeve and then the glove retracts back down to the wrist and then commonly we pull our sleeves up to make our gloves feel more comfortable. When we glove with our hands in the cuff, the skin will only get exposed to the part of the glove that stays at the hand. Hope this helps.
