@sebphilpott: Congratulations to everyone on @Sunset Blvd. on Broadway for an incredible run! I’m so happy to have played a small part on its journey, playing trumpet when it was at the Savoy. Will we ever discover who performed “With One Look” the best? Was it @Nicole Scherzinger, who actually won a Tony award for her portrayal of Norma Desmond, or was it actually trombonist @Emma Bassett who sang along to it in the pit every night? We’ll probably never know. I found some videos from the time, including #tomfrancis conducting the band (I’m not sure why). I see a possible new career for him if this acting thing doesn’t work out. Anyway this show was so damn cool. When I was first booked to do the show, I listened to the original cast recordings. The trumpet playing was so brilliant and it inspired me to push what I thought was possible, to be bold and harness that Hollywood sound. And every day I got to perform while being surrounded by such talent, on stage, in the pit, in every corner of the theatre (and outside). New ways to dream.
