There are iron on Jean colored patches that you can iron on the inside if there are some holes left from taking the stitching out Maybe try that? You're doing great! It's fun watching you!

I’d give it a go with something called a seam ripper. It’s like a little toll that hooks and slices the thread. That’ll take out the stitching without cutting the fabric. There might be a slight outline from the stitches but it would be far less noticeable than this.

Taking out the stitching shouldn’t ruin them, but I’d guess you’ll see an outline of the letters even without the thread in there…
