****GONNA BREAK THIS DOWN**** The WNBAs new media deal, starts in 2026. Its worth 2.2B over 11yrs. Which means each year from 2026 till 2037, they're getting $200M from NBC. NOW, the leagues operating costs per season is around $200M per year!! The current NBA Owners, own about 60% of the WNBA. And the owners want a return on their investment 1st as do other investors to be honest. The players are asking for higher share of revenue (not profit), but to justify paying them more a higher rev share.... you have to know the expenses of the league itself. The 2.2B they are getting was negotiated, with the larger NBA deal which total is $76B. The WNBA has lost on average $10M/yr, every year for 29yrs CONSECUTIVELY. The average WNBA player salary is $100k/yr, which is 100% of the pie. The 2.2B deal for them, technically is another NBA subsidy from the NBA!! Which is the irony. If WNBA players want more revenue, the players should demand they expand regular season games to boost revenues.

The money they want comes from sales and royalties. WNBA is in a deep hole no way they can pay them. it’s not on the players to get views however no way the league can afford to pay them more

the NBA doesn’t give them money? The nba INVESTS money into the wnba the same way the nba invests into the g-league but yall didn’t have a problem with that. When they say pay us what you owe us they mean they want a fairer percentage share of the revenue. Lastly, business losses are EXPECTED in high risk/high reward ventures. In the total duration of the wnba they’ve lost only 350 million, considering Amazon lost 3 billion to make a profit, so did Spotify, IBM lost 8 billion
