Thank you! This happened when I was at Tuskegee. I was on partial academic scholarship, an RA, had outside scholarships, Pell and more. Almost got kicked off campus for not being registered. Meanwhile, buildings are dilapidated, we had lab fees & no lab, so many more issues. I had no parent support but did everything right. I have over $100k in loans from Skegee & elitist/classist students w bad grades & parental support tried to shush me online when I spoke out to “protect Tuskegee’s name”.

I'm a pastor, and something similar happened to a Howard student late last year, and they had to come to my church pantry on a weekday evening to get emergency food. I opened it just for the student, because they seemed to be distressed over the sudden shift in their meal plan.

I have college bound teens, I have been hearing horror stories for years about Howard.This is not a new problem and the only way to stop it is to stop sending our kids there, clearly a lesson needs to be learned or they will continue to abuse their community's trust.

My son is a senior at a HBCU and he’s had no problems since being there. But he had been looking at Howard for grad school since it’s closer and he wanted to stick with an HBCU. Seems like we will be looking elsewhere. Praying the Howard students get their balances paid and transfer immediately 🙏🏽

I still haven’t forgot the housing crisis, from flooding, mold, to the students camping on the yard in protest of the horrible housing conditions. Then they were threatened with police. They also had a huge fraud scandal where they wear stealing financial aid! Howard continuously mistreats their student population.

Can you give a list of some better HBCU’s? My daughter is a sophomore.. we want to start doing hbcu tours however we live in the Midwest and hbcus aren’t talked about a lot. We of course do “research” but outside of the popular schools, idk where else to look. She was considering NCAT or FAMU

I had a student go to Howard two years ago. She left after her first year and she is THRIVING! The horror stories she told me is unreal. I had 10 Black students who told me they wanted to go to Howard this year and I sat them all down and ish got real. Basically, I’m not recommending anyone to Howard. If a student wants to go, it won’t be because I told them to go.

A lot of videos don’t give provide context.All we hear is ‘I need money’ They absolutely need to address these issues. But as long as kids are beating down the door to get in there is no incentive to change. Howard is on my son’s list. I went to A&T so I’m already like🤨.

It’s not just Howard as we know, this EXACT same thing happened to me at Morgan. I left in September because I had no access to food I wasn’t buying and couldn’t attend class. They called in Nov to admit their error and asked if I’d be willing to come back with only 3 weeks of the semester left. And ppl being stuck in their crippling, rude and disrespectful ways is just the cherry on top!

Bison here. 👋🏽 Agree parts of this statement about the disorganization, which has existed even before I was there. late 80s / early 90s. Disagree with the part about who 'they don't want". If they were not wanted they wouldn't have been accepted. This is current students not students trying to get in. Howard alumni have come to the students aid, and there is an existing law suit filed by alumni on behalf of students. So with regard to no one holding them accountable. That is also not true. For sure absolutely students over institution always, because the students make up the institution. So nah, that is not correct and so many receipts to prove otherwise.

I contacted Howard press office to get a comment from one of their dept. They didn’t reply for two weeks. Sent a follow up. Got a reply saying they were on it. Had to follow up again a week later. Someone different said they were on it. Reached out to two people in that dept directly and never heard back. Sent another follow up to comms and never heard back. 1.5 months. I was floored at the unprofessionalism.

This !!!! My sister graduated from Howard and will always say Howard is a dysfunctional institution. She has so many stories about the one that stuck with me the most; Was a reply all argument between administration and teachers going back-and-forth. It was going to the whole entire school. She didn’t stay on campus because of the unlivable dorm situation.

Yes this is true! My granddaughter experienced the same exact thing, about the meal plan! and roughly around the same amount of money. and they didn't tell her until 2 months into the semester!
