@indigenoushoops: Met Mike at 24 hour fitness, he is from The Creek Indians which are more properly called the Muscogee, alternatively spelled Mvskoke a Native American people with rich history in the southeastern United States. He spoke on being locked up from age 12-25yo and the need to be able to sit with yourself and the impact his sons birth had on his life. A lot of Mexicans are actually Native Americans. Before borders, before colonization, we were Indigenous to this land from the Aztecs, Maya, Zapotecs, to the countless other tribes across what's now called Mexico and even into the Southwest U.S. Our roots didn't start with Spain they go way deeper. And that's why it's so important to know your culture. When you understand where you really come from, you stop trying to fit into a story that was never written for you, and you start walking in the truth of who you are. There's healing in that.
