Does anybody else from the South say "Okrey" and not okra? There are so many things I say differently, I guess: "damaters", "do what" (when someone asks me a question I don't understand), "dash pocket" ( the little thing in the car where you keep your registration & insurance card)...and the list goes on 🤣🤣

Not sure where you are in NC but we have plenty of taquerias and authentic spots that are serving superior stuff to what you described! Ask a local Mexican friend and guarantee they’ll put you on to them 🥰

I’m from New Mexico and the Mexican food here shocks me too. We do have authentic Mexican but you have to hunt for it. The churches and the random cemeteries got me too. What are sweet bees? lol
