It’s his dish. In his mind he needs to protect his dish. Best to give him a safe separate place so the instinct to guard his dish doesn’t get worse.

It might be safer and easier to feed the ducks first away from Az. It appears he has some food agression. That’s hard to break in an adult dog.

The fact that he doesn't hide when things go wrong is incredible it's great to see someone who shows their flaws and is not afraid it's awesome how you can train your dogs to sit, stay and do a bunch of other things. It must take a lot of practice to get him to do that. You're ❤️❤️

a raised dish would be better for him and the ducks couldn't reach it...

Try to stop the resource guarding. They should be able to poke in that bowl; just like how YOU should be able to put your hand in the bowl while he’s eating. Food aggression will definitely lead to them getting hurt 😔

Don’t put the food 🍱 n the ground. Lift it up about 18 inches It’s better for him

What if he ate in a higher dish so ducks can't see or reach it.

Loved this video, Nate’s the best trainer I’ve seen and it shows how even he has different scenarios pop up. This is an interesting problem tho, still very impressive that az only snaped at the ducks at the end.

I've bred and trained livestock guardians for many, many years and this behavior is completely inappropriate from az. livestock guardians don't do as well coming up alone, they do better with an older more experienced dog showing them the ropes. I also would have housed this dog with the ducks from day 1 so he bonded to his stock. this behavior needs corrected immediately. if there was an experienced guardian dog with him the dog would have corrected this behavior from az from day 1.
