people who think the goal of fostering is to end in adoption worry me.

The kids that aren't being reunified are BABIES and Toddlers. they alienate the biological parents to force bonds with foster parents. it's a different experience when you are the parent fighting the system that makes money from separation.

I saw this video yesterday, people are just so quick to talk about what they want to be instead of what they are.💜💕🙏🏻

adults need to stop being condescending to children like they aren’t still people. too many parents wanna treat kids like accessories and only want them for status

Every child is entitled to their full story and it's not about the adults or their feelings in these situations.

And like…there’s nothing that says you can’t *love* them like your own without the same surname? Nothing that says you can’t help that kid with college or whatever when they turn 18? So…why do ppl feel adoption is necessary?

my aunt and uncle fostered for a while and weren't looking to adopt. my aunt worked with the mother to try to pull her out of her addiction until 2 or 3 years later when the mom said "please adopt my son. he deserves a life I cannot give him. you can." my aunt and uncle were FIGHTING for reunification because they saw the potential his birth mother had. I will never claim to know what it's like to be fostered or adopted. I've heard from others they had good and bad experiences in the foster system. and his birth mother did originally want to reunify but it got too much for her. she knew my aunt and uncle were good people, uncle is getting a doctorate in psychology right now and honestly, that was very selfless of her to look at herself and say "I love my child but I know I will relapse in my addiction again and I don't want my son to go through that." which is understandable. they were happy to welcome her son into their family and to my knowledge she calls for special dates. as someone who is thinking of possibly adopting in the future, I will ALWAYS listen to the voices of adoptees over adoptive parents. adoptees and foster children are the head of the table and their voices deserve to be heard.

Honestly I should’ve been given back to my father instead of being adopted out of foster care

"the most annoying thing" oh you mean the purpose for which foster care was created?? 😩😩 reunification should always be the primary goal if safe and possible

I was apart of that 35% that didn’t reunite. The agency knew when they took us, that was never going to happen. I didn’t get adopted, I aged out & built my life.

👏👏👏 Perfectly said. Nuance is necessary in these conversations. Not everything is black and white. There are a lot of shades of gray in Foster Care.

I remember the first thing my parents said when talking to us about fostering, and it was that they wanted to make sure siblings could have a safe home and stay together and that they wanted to help. Fostering should be doing whatever you can to help the children in your care. ENCLUDING bringing families back together wheneverrrr possible. At least that’s my opinion on it.

This TikTok account has taught me so much. I would love to provide love and shelter to a foster kid in the future, no adoption required if the kid doesn’t want it. The foster care system takes away so much agency from foster youth, so why shouldnt they get a say in their own rights? The person who you stitched seems very flippant and disrespectful.

This! I hate the idea of foster to adopt just for the simple fact that it is like people are hoping for families to be broken up. That being said, my daughter asked me to adopt her when she was 16 and I’m not even sure now that it was the best for her. She’s 19 now and chose to move in with her family as an adult and I hate that legally she’s not related to them anymore even though they’re her family.

I argued against my at the 5&6 yr old foster boys being adopted, they are now 10&11, seeing family, but loved like our own. they will always have a safe place here with us & keep their identity &family ❤️

not all foster/adoption agencies care or want to care about the child that is being traded for money. Why wouldn't we want listen. human decency and respect goes a long away.

Sweetheart… none of what you have to say changes the fact that children in foster care do and should sometimes be adopted. It’s not black or white. End. Of. Story. So sit down.
