I had pulled a hangnail on my thumb once and it caused something called “proud flesh” which was honestly one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. It was not going away with conservative methods so I cut it off with cuticle trimmers. Was seeing stars from it and it bled a lot but it felt so fucking much better within minutes.

ignored mine for a few months. The pain got so bad so I did a little procedure. Apparently my nail had GROWN THRPUGH MY SKIN and made a hole. Pried it out and it got hella infected so I had to get surgery. Best decision ever tho
