Thanks to the humble British soldier for saving us from allat rant✌️❤️‍🩹 . P. S. The words of the French soldier from the video (Jacque) were taken from a real Frenchman’s letter, but I kinda edited it out and removed the rudest insults from there. . Context: Operation Michael was a German military offensive launched in March of 1918. On the first day of a military operation (21st of March), a thick fog had settled over the British lines. This made it easier for the German Stormtroopers to infiltrate the British positions. “German voices could shortly be heard shouting and taunting in English through the fog”. Many outposts were cut off, and the British army experienced heavy losses. Therefore, the British troops began a long fighting retreat. By the 23rd of March, Germans already advanced up to 26 km of land. Maréchal Pétain was shocked “that the British no longer appeared to be functioning”. The situation of the British troops deeply concerned him. Some French storm battalions tried to attack Germans, but, as British Private Cude reported, they were met with “the heaviest machine gun barrage that I have ever witnessed”. On the 26th, the British army was reinforced with the French troops, and Philippe Pétain took command of both French and British armies. That didn’t stop the Germans though. They continued advancing and shifting the focus of their attack several times over the following days. On the 5th April, the operation ended. Germans advanced up to 65 km. Allied army was left with a large number of casualties, most of them were British. During the first days of Operation Michael, French poilus were hopeful, they believed that “their British friends would hold the Germans despite their initial retreat”, but further into the retreat they got more concerned and scared. That fear grew into anger. Therefore, lots of French folks were absolutely outraged at the retreating British soldiers. They were also incredibly angry with the Americans, who couldn’t provide as much help as the Frenchmen expected. In letters to their families, poilus mentioned some awful things about their British comrades and the Americans. . . #history #historymemes #worldwar1 #greatwar #cosplay #westernfront #helloneighbor #helloneighborlikeandsubscribe #likeandsubsscribe #1918 #ww1history #ww1memes #poilu #britishhistory #histoirefrancaise #frenchhistory #entente #kaiserschlacht #богвійнисеменпалій #перваямироваявойна #историческиемемы #funny #fyp #educational
