Anything extra is a grant or out of your pocket. They didn’t even give me chairs for the library I had to build in our school that didn’t have one. I had to go around and piece furniture together or bring up items to make it work. I garage sale hard 😮💨

I started at a new school last year. I DID have to beg for a stapler and tape dispenser. Smdh

I do this and Im a second grade teacher. I have deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair supplies, and socks that my students have access to. I have also sent some home for other family members of my students. I also send all my students home with a snack every day so that I know they atleast have a little something they can eat when they leave my classroom for the day.

I’m an SSW and I’ve been asked before why I don’t “ask the school” for the toiletries,extra clothing , and snacks I have for my kiddos. People have no idea how little we get in education.

Exactly !!!! Working in the school system is seriously a unthankless jobs and people don’t understand how this amount of compassion most kids don’t receive at home because this is basic necessities 🥺🥺

I buy my son’s teacher whatever she asks for and I always add extra to make up for the parents who can’t afford it. I also give my sons teachers with gift cards to supply them for the next class or to have a nice vacay for the summer. I always let them know the money is for them. I’ll keep doing that as long as I’m financially able. Our kids are spending a large portion of their days with these teachers. They deserve our support.

My school has said not to post wishlists because “it looks bad,” but they provide nothing. Literally nothing. Oh and room decor/“inviting environment” is a measured domain on our teacher evaluations.

I’m in Texas and I love this! But I just know one of these parents would complain that I’m giving their kid toxic deodorant that’s poisoning their body or teaching them about sex or transitioning by offering pads/tampons in a room with boys 🫠
