I would be worried that “ring leader” guy is having him set you up in some shape or form. Even if he is sincere it’s just too little too late. A verbal apology via phone is more than enough from him. I would be curious like you are and want to hear what he has to say face to face but I don’t think it’s worth the risk. Especially if he agrees to it being recorded. Thay just seems like too good to be true if he’d even consider doing that
