Loss prevention needs the person stealing to pass all final “points of sale” (the exit) to prove the theft. After that point they have already stolen and been caught which makes the case easier to prove if it goes to court. 🫡

I don't know where this is but I know for a fact that in my local store in Newark New Jersey the cops have come and arrested the same person more than 10 times and they've been released from booking in under 24 hours it doesn't matter how many times have been arrested as long as they are not carrying or have stolen more than $10,000 in merchandise from the store collectively then it's not a felony it's a misdemeanor in the state of New Jersey which is so stupid it just invites them to come back because they have no serious consequences even if a cop comes it won't stop them from coming again later.
